'The Next Food Network Star' Finalist Chef Michael Proietti to Judge “Battle of the Boroughs”

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will salute the contributions of firefighters and paramedics with a weekend of special events and demonstrations Saturday, July 18th & Sunday, July 19th  at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

The weekend will kick-off with a ceremony to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the FDNY Marine Unit on Saturday, July 18th at 11:00 AM.  Festivities include a ceremonial wreath laying and water displays from FDNY fire boats.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can watch FDNY and paramedic demonstrations including rescue company rope slides, vehicle extrication, and ladder bucket rescue, as well as ambulance, squad truck and tower ladder vehicle displays.

The activities will conclude with chefs from 10 firehouses from all five NYC boroughs competing in a cook-off to determine who makes the “best chow” for their workers in the “Battle of the Boroughs” that will be held on Sunday, July 19th from 12:00-3:00 PM on Pier 86 under the British Airways Concorde.

Chef Michael Proietti, a finalist on Food Network’s hit reality series The Next Food Network Star will serve as one of the judges along with representatives from FDNY.

The winning team will receive a The Next Food Network Star Pantry Set, courtesy of Food Network.

All activities are free with admission to the Museum.  For more information and an up-to-date listing of events, visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.
