Pearl Harbor survivors from the New York metropolitan area and Former USS Intrepid Crewmembers joined together this Friday, December 7th in a private wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The ceremony took place on Intrepid Museum’s Pier 86 underneath the British Airways Concorde and featured remarks from Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum President Susan Marenoff-Zausner and Pearl Harbor survivor, Dan Fruchter.

Reverend William Kalaidjian and Rabbi Morris Barzilai blessed the ceremonial wreath— using water from the USS Arizona— which was then laid by the attending Pearl Harbor Survivors and punctuated by a poignant 21-gun salute by the 69th Infantry Firing Party.

Although Intrepid remains closed to the public the Museum is proud to continue its mission to honor, educate, and inspire.
