|The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum brought the Museum experience to 7th grade students at St. Hope Leadership Academy in Manhattan last week through our Intrepid Sails interactive education program. Museum educators lead an interactive presentation examining authentic signal flags from the ship as historic artifacts. The program also explored different types of codes and why the Navy uses coded messages in operations, and students used their imaginations to create their own secret codes with signal flag coding.
Intrepid Sails is an outbound education program that brings the experience and concepts of the Intrepid Museum to K-12th grade students in the New York area, including interactive presentations and hands-on activities that require students to use problem-solving skills.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum remains temporarily closed as it continues to recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. Updates can continue be found on the museum website, and on Facebook or Twitter.
