VIETNAM MEMORIAL TO TRAVEL THROUGH GREATER NEW YORK

The Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall, a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C will make its way from Staten Island to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on Monday, November 7th from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM.
A motorcade of motorcycles escorting the memorial through Greater New York will leave UA Stadium Theatre in Staten Island at 9:30 AM. From there, the Wall will cross the Goethals Bridge to the New Jersey Turnpike, go over the George Washington Bridge, head south on Broadway to 49th Street, turn west onto the West Side Highway and then south to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (located at Pier 86 – 46th Street and West Side Highway), where it will then be assembled and remain until Sunday, November 20.
The Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall stands eight feet tall and stretches 240 feet long. It is inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died in combat or are currently listed as missing in Vietnam. Since its creation in 1990 by the Dignity Memorial network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, the traveling monument has been displayed in more than 200 cities across the country.This marks the first time the Memorial will be displayed in Manhattan, where it will be open to the public, at no cost, at Pier 86 until Sunday, November 20.
