AT THE INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM
SATURDAY, JULY 20TH & SUNDAY, JULY 21ST

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will salute our Bravest with a weekend of special events and demonstrations on Saturday, July 20h & Sunday, July 21st at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue) in Manhattan.

This year’s special events include:

Saturday, July 20th:
The weekend will kick-off with a blessing ceremony to honor the FDNY Fleet at 11:00 AM.  Chefs representing FDNY posts in all 5 boroughs will compete in the 5th annual crowd favorite “Battle of the Boroughs” cook-off to determine who makes the “best chow” from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM. Battle of the Boroughs is proudly sponsored by Potbelly Sandwich Shop.

Sunday, July 21st:
Fireboat water displays will take place at 11:00 AM.  Cheer on your favorite musical act as active and retired firefighters hit the stage for “Battle of the Bands” performances from 12:00 PM.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can also watch FDNY demonstrations including ladder bucket rescue, stokes basket and rope slides, forcible entry, vehicle extrication and EMS treatment, as well as appearances by Hotdog, the FDNY Fire Safety Mascot.

All activities are free and open to the public on Pier 86.  For more information and an up-to-date listing of events, visit www.intrepidmuseum.org

Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs with proper identification will receive free admission to the Museum, including the newly reopened Space Shuttle Pavilion, featuring the Space Shuttle Enterprise.  Guests of firefighters and paramedics (up to 4 guests per rescue worker) will receive a 50% discount off of regular Museum admission.

About the Museum
Now home of the Space Shuttle Enterprise, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum complex includes the 900-foot-long aircraft carrier Intrepid; the guided missile submarine Growler; and an extensive collection of 27 aircraft including the A-12 Blackbird, the fastest plane in the world, and the British Airways Concorde, the fastest commercial aircraft in the world. Guests can experience areas of the ship including the Flight Deck, Hangar Deck, fo’c’sle (commonly known as the anchor chain room), new multimedia presentations and exhibit collections, interactive educational stations and a state-of-the-art public pier.

Guests to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum also can experience the 12,240 square-foot interactive Exploreum – which contains a variety of hands-on exhibits – that teaches guests about the different properties of the sea, air, space and living at sea as each relates to the ship Intrepid. In the Exploreum, guests can experience a flight simulator, transmit messages using Morse code, sit on the bunk of a crewmember, learn how the Intrepid turned salt water into fresh water and perform various tasks while wearing space gloves.
