FORMER NEW YORK KNICK JOHN STARKS TO SPEAK WITH NYC YOUTH AT
INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM

Former New York Knicks shooting guard John Starks will be the featured speaker for a group of approximately 75 New York City school kids at the Intrepid Power of One continuing education program on Friday, July 9th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.

Starks played for the New York Knicks from 1990-1998, and alongside teammate Patrick Ewing became a fan favorite.  In 1993, Starks was at the center of one of the most famous plays in New York Knicks history, now known as “The Dunk” against Horace Grant and Michael Jordan. Starks is the Knicks’ all-time leader in three point field goals and the first player in NBA history to make 200 three-pointers in one season.

The Intrepid Museum’s Power of One program allows students to meet and hear from well-known members of the New York community, and hear about their personal struggles and path to success in their lives, the importance of civic involvement.  Power of One is based on the notion that a single event can change a young person’s life or start them on the road to change.

The Power of One program is consistent with the mission of the Intrepid to “honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.”
