FALLEN HEROES FUND

Dave Cummings, founder of the Hoops for Heroes initiative, will reach the half-million mark in his quest to make one million free throws to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund on Thursday, November 11th at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Hudson River Park Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.  Cummings will shoot free throws from 2:30 PM – 3 PM.

Cummings began his quest to make one million free throws on Veterans’ Day in 2009 and has shot every day since, averaging approximately 1,370 made free throws per day.  All proceeds he raises will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund which supports injured Veterans and their families.  The organization most recently completed the $60 million National Intrepid Center of Excellence, dedicated to the treatment of post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury, next to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

The demonstration will be immediately followed by the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum’s annual Veterans’ Day ceremony
