NEW YORK (July 25, 2014) – For the fourth consecutive year, the Intrepid Museum Foundation (doing business as the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum) has been awarded the coveted four-star rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency from Charity Navigator. The perfect 4-star rating acknowledges the Intrepid Museum for consistently executing its mission in a fiscally responsible way while adhering to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities.
Only 7 percent of the charities Charity Navigator rates have received four consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that the Intrepid Museum is one of the country’s top performers. This “exceptional” designation “differentiates Intrepid Museum from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust,” Charity Navigator stated.
“We are honored to once again be recognized by Charity Navigator with a four-star rating,” said Susan Marenoff-Zausner, President of the Intrepid Museum. “We strive to run our organization in the most highly ethical and financially responsible manner, and we appreciate the recognition of our efforts.”
Charity Navigator, America's premier charity evaluator, highlights the fine work of efficient, ethical and open charities with the goal of guiding intelligent giving by providing donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make. Data shows that last year donors were influenced by the information provided by Charity Navigator when considering making in charitable gifts. Charity Navigator is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization under the Internal Revenue Code and does not accept any contributions from any charities they evaluate.
