INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM
PRESENTS THREE FREE TOUR GUIDE TALKS THIS SUMMER
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum introduces three free Tour Guide Talks that will run weekends from June 1st – September 2nd, including Labor Day, aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.
- “Concorde, Plane of the Future?” – We now travel on subsonic airliners which take seven hours to cross the Atlantic, but from 1976 to 2003 it was possible to make the trip in half that time. This talk will touch on how Concorde came to be, the technological advances involved and the aviation records set by these aircraft. Tour Guide Talks run weekends from June 1st – September 2nd, from 11:00 AM – 11:15 AM & 2:00 PM – 2:15 PM.
- “The Greatest Generation and You” – America changed on December 7th, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was attacked. While 16 million men and women served in uniform in World War II, many more Americans worked to support those serving overseas. This discussion will look into how these events may have affected you and your family. Tour Guide Talks run weekends from June 1st – September 2nd, from 12:00 PM – 12:15 PM & 3:00 PM – 3:15 PM.
- “Who Was Neil Armstrong?” – This talk offers visitors a look back at the life and accomplishments of astronaut Neil Armstrong, who passed away in 2012. Everyone knows he was the first man on the moon, but what could prepare him for the unknown? Tour Guide Talks run weekends from June 1st – September 2nd, from 1:00 PM – 1:15 PM & 4:00 PM – 4:15 PM.
The Tour Guide Talks are open to the public and free with the price of admission to the museum.
