Most-launched astronaut in history Jerry L. Ross will share his experiences from his career with NASA, which spanned the entire U.S. space shuttle program, his personal experience reaching 1,293 hours in space, including 58 hours and 18 minutes on nine space walks, and the hard work and determination necessary to travel beyond this world with a group of New York City students from Joseph Pulitzer Intermediate School, PS/MS 34-Franklin Delano Roosevelt School, I.S. 204 Q and I.S. 230 Q as part of the Intrepid Museum’s Power of One eminent speakers program on Friday, February 1, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.
The Intrepid Museum’s Power of One program allows students to meet and hear from community members who share their experiences and insights about overcoming challenges to achieve success, the importance of civic involvement and a love of their country. It is based on the notion that a single event can change a young person’s life or start them on the road to change. The Power of One program is consistent with the mission of the Intrepid to “honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.”
