NEW INTERACTIVE SUBMERGED EXHIBITION EXPLORES SUBMARINE LIFE AT THE INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM

Permanent Exhibit Opens Tuesday, August 5

Submerged, a new interactive exhibition exploring life on a submarine will open on Tuesday, August 5 at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue) in Manhattan.

Submerged, a permanent and immersive exhibit makes the history and function of submarines come alive for children and families. Located in the Museum’s Exploreum, the fully interactive exhibition will allow visitors to explore a submarine’s sleeping quarters, mess hall, navigation system and engine room by using a periscope, climbing into a bunk, becoming a sonar operator, and learning how submarines surface, submerge and move through water. Guides will be on hand to provide information and one-on-one assistance throughout the exhibit.

The exhibit is a welcome companion to one of the Museum’s most popular attractions, Growler, the only American diesel-powered strategic missile submarine open to the public.

The exhibit is free with the price of admission to the museum. For more information, visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.
