North American Boxing Federation President and former USS Intrepid crewmember Joe Dwyer, Commissioner of Boxing Melvina Lathan, North American Boxing Federation cruiserweight champion Matt Godfrey, Olympians Jason Estrada and Sadam Ali , and boxers Hino Ehikhamenor, Michael Olajide, Lela Fazel, Tor Hamer, Ann Saccurato, Suszannah Warner, Peter Quillin, Derric Rossy, Phil Miller, Kali Reis, Ricky Ray Taylor, Brian Adams, Josh Harris and Eric Estrada will be joined by boxing referees, commentators, trainers and promoters at a special demonstration and panel discussion with more than 200 New York City students on Thursday, October 22nd from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.
Select boxers will share their inspirational stories with students, then referees, announcers, commentators and boxers will stage and narrate a boxing match to illustrate all of the technical components that go into the sport. Following the match, students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with participants.
The United States Navy and Intrepid have long been connected to the sport of boxing, with many matches being fought on the USS Intrepid dating back to the 1950s.
