Martians, Astronauts, Klingons and Other Space Characters to Join Intrepid Museum Officials Hoping to “Land” a Retiring Space Shuttle

In the continuing effort to help bring a NASA Space Shuttle to New York City, costumed-clad New Yorkers dressed as their favorite space characters will join Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum officials and ride the subway S train shuttle from Grand Central Station to Times Square, on Thursday, April 15, 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Grand Central Station S train subway stop – Track 4 (near 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue).

Members of the subway-riding public are encouraged to dress as their favorite space-themed character – whether astronauts, Martians, Jedi, Klingons or any other of their favorite people or aliens – and ride the Shuttle Train in a show of support for the Intrepid’s efforts to secure one of three retiring NASA Space Shuttle Orbiters. The Intrepid Museum plans to build a glass enclosure on the Pier at 46th Street to house a shuttle, which is expected to draw more than 1-million visitors annually and mean some $100 million in increased tourist revenue for the City of New York.
