THE INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM RE-OPENS TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH WITH A DAY-LONG CELEBRATION

On Saturday, November 8 at 10 a.m. the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum reopened to the public for the first time since October 1, 2006.

To mark the event, a Ribbon Cutting ceremony featuring CEO of NYC & Company George Fertitta, CEO of Hudson River Park Trust Connie Fishman and former crew members was conducted outside of the Welcome Center on the brand new Pier 86.

The event also included performances by Nashville Star finalist Bobby Stanley, the Chaminade High School band, the USO and Liberty Belles, the Annapolis Men’s Glee Club and Barbershop Quartet. Also part of the day’s activities was a Tug O’ War between the FDNY, NYPD, US Navy, and USMC and an evening fireworks display.


The schedule of events is below:  

Saturday, November 8th:

10:00 AM                    Ribbon Cutting ceremony featuring CEO of NYC & Company George Fertitta, CEO of Hudson River Park Trust Connie Fishman, former crew members, a musical performance from Nashville Star finalist Bobby Stanley, followed by the doors opening to the public

11:00 – 11:30 AM        Musical performance by Chaminade High School band

1:00 – 1:30 PM            Tug O’ War between the FDNY, NYPD, US Navy, and USMC

2:30 – 3:00 PM            Musical performance by Chaminade High School band

5:30 – 6:00 PM            Performance by the USO and Liberty Belles

6:00 – 6:30 PM            Performance by Annapolis Men’s Glee Club, Barbershop Quartet

7:00 – 7:15 PM            Fireworks


These opening events are presented by Bank of America, official Bank of the Intrepid Museum.
