The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will host its annual Memorial Day commemoration ceremony to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces on Monday, May 26th, at 11:00 AM on Pier 86 (W. 46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.
Admiral Bill Gortney, Commander, US Fleet Forces Command will offer remarks on behalf of the United States Armed Forces. To honor our fallen patriots, the ceremony will include the unfurling of a 100-foot American flag, the laying of ceremonial wreaths, a three-volley rifle salute and the playing of Echo Taps. Tying in to the Department of Defense’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, the event will highlight the Intrepid Museum's forthcoming exhibits and programming on the war.
Demonstrations, activities and various interactive displays from Intrepid Education, U.S. Coast Guard, the Office of Naval Research, and Intrepid Former Crewmember Association will also take place on the pier from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
All Memorial Day activities are free and open to the public.
