TO HOST COMPETITION
Hundreds of screaming fans are expected to flock to Pier 86 to watch visiting members of the armed forces square off in special Fleet Week tug-of-war challenges on Saturday, May 29th from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.
The competition will be hosted by new Miss USA Rima Fakih.
In between rounds with sailors and marines, mascots from New York sports teams and organizations will have their own tug-of-war challenge. Participants include mascots from the New York Mets, New Jersey Nets, New Jersey Devils, New York Liberty, Brooklyn Cyclones and Lucky Strike.
Fleet Week takes place from May 26-31. A Fleet Week icon, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum hosts many popular Fleet Week events including athletic challenges between groups of visiting members of the armed forces, military displays and demonstrations and a special Memorial Day ceremony.
