VIETNAM VETERANS TO JOIN RELIGIOUS AND CIVIC LEADERS
AT OPENING CEREMONY OF TRAVELING VIETNAM MEMORIAL AT
INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9
Vietnam Veterans will join Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan, Senior Rabbi of Congregation of Emanu-el of the City of New York David Posner, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Paul Bucha, and Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum President Susan Marenoff-Zausner in participating at the opening ceremony of the Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall, a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C on Wednesday, November 9th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue) in Manhattan.
The Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall stands eight feet tall and stretches 240 feet long. It is inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died in combat or are currently listed as missing in Vietnam. Since its creation in 1990 by the Dignity Memorial network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, the traveling monument has been displayed in more than 200 cities across the country. This marks the first time the Memorial will be displayed in Manhattan, where it will be open to the public, at no cost, at Pier 86 until Sunday, November 20.
