Special Events Staff

Welcome to the After Party by the Intrepid Museum’s Special Events Team. Here we’ll give you a look behind the velvet ropes at one of the most exceptional venues in New York, and we’ll tell you what’s catching our eye in the industry and beyond. Just like our events, each of us has a unique style. We’ll be giving you the good, the bad and the outrageously inspiring from our life aboard the ship. Join us for the After Party!

Let’s face it. Comfortable shoes are not always cute (see Exhibit A), but if you’re interested in walking upright or without joint pain later in life, and you work in events, choosing better footwear is essential NOW.

Exhibit A

Here at the Intrepid Museum, our team walks and stands on hard steel floors for events and walk-throughs. Inflexible surfaces like metal, marble and concrete are typically the most damaging to knee joints and can cause lower back pain.
In a town where the laws of fashion often overrule practicality, the tides are turning on having to give up comfort for style. Designers are trading pointy toes and sky-high heels for memory-foam insoles and supportive wedges.

Check out the following chic, comfortable shoe selections that offer support as well as style:

Aerosoles Good Chlue
Working or attending an outdoor music festival? Slip on these stylish and comfortable flats, which are available in an array of colors!

Cole Haan Tali Bow Ballet Flat
Sophisticated and easy to wear, these Cole Haan ballet flats will be at the top of your must-have list for walk-throughs with clients.

Clarks Okena Posh
Perforated detailing and leather linings mean that these shoes work well when worn barefoot, making them perfect for an off-site meeting or summer party.

Easy Spirit Avery Low Wedge
This basic wedge features a flexible and durable rubber outsole—making them ultra lightweight and perfect for an all-day conference.

Naturalizer Idina Peep-Toe Pumps
The ultra-chic d’Orsay cutout styling of this pump is perfect for a business lunch with potential clients or a corporate event.

Cole Haan Ravenna Wedge Sandal
This fun, textured wedge sandal is a must-have for summer networking events around the city!

Børn Dinah Loafer
This classic penny loafer is precisely stitched for a polished silhouette, making it appropriate in and out of the office—a great alternative to ballet flats for a more elegant event look!

Söfft Pami Flat
Geometric cutouts highlight this sleek flat. Throw these on when commuting to and from work or when visiting a vendor’s showroom so that you can walk the aisles to assess a product.
