New York Military Affairs Symposium to Present 2010 Military History Series Onboard the Intrepid

Friday, December 10th will conclude the New York Military Affairs Symposium at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.  From 7:00pm – 8:30pm, Dr. Theodore F. Cook, Jr. will speak on Japan’s War Plans: Preparing for Armageddon, exploring cultural and social conditions that permitted the rise of the Japanese militaristic policies that characterized pre-war Japan.
 
Since 1988 Dr. Cook has been a Professor in the Department of History at The William Paterson University in New Jersey where he is currently the Director of Asian Studies. During the early 1980’s Dr. Cook served as a military and political analyst in the Office of East Asian Analysis for the Central Intelligence Agency.  He has held academic positions in institutions across the country.  Dr. Cook’s current book projects include Inside Japan's War: The Japanese Experience, 1937-1945 and The Japanese Army, 1870-1945.
 
The New York Military Affairs Symposium is an independent, not for profit educational body. The membership includes scholars, active and retired military and concerned civilians. It is devoted to increasing public knowledge, awareness and understanding of military history, arms control, international relations, defense policy, disarmament, civil-military relations, international security, veterans affairs and the interrelationship of war, society and culture through the presentation and dissemination of diverse scholarly viewpoints.
