Intrepid continues its 31-day Salute to Women this weekend with Girls in Sports Day and the launch of Girls in Science and Engineering Week.
Girls in Sports Day, sponsored by the New York Liberty, boasts a thrilling day of athletic programming.
The Intrepid will be packed with New York City’s favorite female teams. Kym Hampton and Maddy the Mascot of the New York Liberty will be on board to host a 2:00pm meet and greet.
New York Magic Women’s Soccer Team, SkyBlue Women’s Professional Soccer Team and the USTA will also be on hand with demonstrations, interactive experiences and fantastic giveaways!
Currently in training for the 2012 Olympic Team, Daria Schneider and Dagmara Wozniak, two of the four members of the US National Women’s Sabre Team will conclude Girls in Sports Day with a special demonstration.
Sunday, Salute to Women continues with the Con Edison sponsored Girls in Science and Engineering Week.
Aspiring to educate, inspire, and celebrate women’s contributions in the sciences, and to showcase to young women why science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies are so exciting and important, this Sunday, the Museum will kick off Girls in Science & Engineering Week. Sunday, March 19th will feature female scientists and scientific demonstrations representing a range of disciplines.
Building on the Intrepid Museum’s STEM programming and programming partnerships with local New York City area science institutions, Intrepid’s education staff, and students and staff from several science institutions will lead demonstrations, activities, and experiments.
