NASA astronaut Michael Massimino will kick-off NASA weekend at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum by sharing his outer worldly experiences with visitors on Friday, November 20 at 3 pm in the Exploreum.
Massimino, a Franklin, New York native, recently returned from the Hubble telescope servicing mission and is the first person to ever “tweet” from space.
NASA weekend at Intrepid, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of Apollo 12, the first successful lunar landing mission which took place in July 1969, will include interactive programs and demonstrations paying tribute to NASA’s efforts and achievements.
Among the NASA artifacts and multimedia programs and exhibits that visitors will experience all weekend are lunar samples, a 3-D Mars presentation with a Mars Rover, an authentic Mars Mark III space suit model and the history of Apollo revealed through graphics and models.
All NASA programming is free with paid admission to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
