Students and teachers across the country are back in the classroom and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is excited to announce its educational programs and activities for the 2014-2015 school year. Teachers, we encourage you to bring your students to the Intrepid Museum as part of your classroom studies.
Grounded in the best practices of inquiry, experiential, and object-based learning, our standards-based education programs are designed to support academic success by providing meaningful and engaging experiences for students. Programs and workshops explore topics in the sciences, engineering and math. As a historic site, we also have programming exploring the participation of USS Intrepid in World War II and the Vietnam War.
With our one-of-a-kind collection, including more than two dozen aircraft, a submarine and space shuttle Enterprise, we are uniquely able to discuss the interplay between historical context and technological innovation. In addition, we are committed to welcoming all learners to the Museum, including those with learning disabilities, who are hard-of-hearing or have limited mobility.
Finally, don’t forget yourself! Periodically, we offer free professional development for teachers in STEM and in history subjects. For more about our school and teacher programs, and to find free resources for use in the classroom, please visit our website.
To speak with Intrepid Museum educators about the special interests or needs of your group, please email schoolprograms@intrepidmuseum.org. To make your reservation please call the Group Sales Department at 646-381-5010. We look forward to working with you this year!
