Welcome to the After Party by the Intrepid Museum’s Special Events Team. Here we’ll give you a look behind the velvet ropes at one of the most exceptional venues in New York, and we’ll tell you what’s catching our eye in the industry and beyond. Just like our events, each of us has a unique style. We’ll be giving you the good, the bad and the outrageously inspiring from our life aboard the ship. Join us for the After Party!

As a venue manager, we sometimes work with event organizers who have their details entirely mapped out before they even call. Other times, we have clients who come to us with a completely blank slate and ask us for ideas on customizing their event. Now that holiday parties are just around the corner, here are four elements that I’d love to see clients incorporate into their events here at the Intrepid Museum!

1. EM-POWER YOUR GUESTS
Leaving your guests to their own devices (pun intended) when it comes to finding power for their chargers can be bad for both the venue and the planner. We’ve returned many a phone after events to guests who left them charging in a forgotten hallway. Or worse, a guest might try to plug a charger into an already loaded circuit and risk frying their electronics. CORT Events offers a line of “powered” furniture rentals, including lamps, tables and seating, all with built-in outlets so that guests can enjoy the event while keeping their belongings secure and powered up!

2. 3D PEN
Do you remember the children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon? Harold was a little boy who could create a world of his own simply by drawing it. Well now in 2015, so can you! A “3Doodler” is a fresh and fun idea for guests of all ages, and we have lots of aircraft in our collection for inspiration.

3. EAT DRINK PLAY
We already have two flight simulators located in our hangar 3 space that can be hired out for events, but why stop there? Offer guests fitness gaming such as a head-to-head spin challenge or indoor skiing to get your guests’ adrenaline and cardio pumping.

4. INTERACTIVE FLOOR
Some planners get intimidated by the sheer square footage that we have on the ship, but fear not! Feel free to spread out and use the space wisely by adding virtual interactive floor projections.
