Intrepid Museum Foundation, Inc., d/b/a Intrepid Museum (the "Intrepid") knows that you care how personal information about you is used and shared, and Intrepid appreciates your trust that it will do so carefully and sensibly. This privacy policy (this "Policy") describes how Intrepid collects, stores and uses personal information about individuals who use its general website (intrepidmuseum.org), its Museum Store website (intrepidstore.org), or its mobile application (collectively, the "Intrepid Platform") or who communicate with Intrepid by email. This Policy only applies to transactions made, and data gathered, on the Intrepid Platform, and does not apply to information gathered by any other means. All interactions with the Intrepid Platform or email are governed by this Policy. By using the Intrepid Platform or communicating with Intrepid by email, you are agreeing to the terms of this Policy.
You may visit and use the Intrepid Platform without providing any personally identifiable information. However, if you wish to use the Intrepid Platform’s interactive features, Intrepid will ask you to provide certain information.
For example, when you join as a member, sign up as a volunteer, sign up to receive Intrepid’s newsletter, or fill out an online information request form, Intrepid will ask you to provide your first and last name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number, and in certain instances your birthday.
When you shop at the Museum Store online, you will be asked to create a user account using your email address and a unique password, and to provide your first and last name, shipping and billing addresses, and credit card information.
Intrepid uses the personal information that you provide in order to process your membership, volunteer and/or newsletter enrollment requests, fulfill your online purchase orders, respond to information requests, facilitate customer service, inform you of Intrepid’s products and promotional offers and those of third parties that might be of interest to you, and generally to personalize the Intrepid Platform so that it can better meet your needs. Intrepid does not share any personally identifiable information with any third parties for any purpose, except as set out in this Privacy Policy or otherwise required by law or if Intrepid believes disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property or safety of Intrepid, its visitors or others, including, but not limited to, exchanging information with other companies and organizations for purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction. However, Intrepid may transfer aggregate, non-personally identifiable data to third parties.
In order to improve your user experience, the Intrepid Platform uses "cookies," pixel tags or other local storage to automatically collect certain information about visitors. This information, such as your IP address, your login and password, information about your computer’s browser and operating system, and clickstream data, cannot be used to identify you personally.
You can set your Web browser or device to reject cookies; however, doing so may impair your ability to use some of the features on the Intrepid Platform. For example, cookies are necessary to maintain the contents of your online shopping cart as you navigate the Museum Store site before completing a purchase. All cookies used by the Museum Store online are set to expire within three (3) days of visiting the site.
Intrepid does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If Intrepid discovers that a child under age 13 has provided personal information, or if it is brought to Intrepid’s attention that it has been provided with such information without verifiable parental consent, it will be promptly deleted from Intrepid’s records.
Individuals who provide us with their email address will receive our email newsletter, as well as announcements regarding events or promotions we think might be of interest to them. If you do not wish to receive our newsletter or these types of announcements, you may unsubscribe at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in the email message, or by sending an unsubscribe request to Intrepid by clicking here. Please note, any message, material, business information, ideas, concepts, or other information sent to the Intrepid by email will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary.
Intrepid takes your security seriously and takes reasonable steps, including physical, electronic, and managerial procedures, to protect your personal information against unauthorized use or disclosure. However, you understand and agree that no security measures are foolproof and that no data transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
Intrepid may engage other companies or individuals to perform functions on its behalf. These third parties will have access to your personal information as needed to perform their functions; however, they will be bound by contract to maintain the confidentiality and security of this information.
The Intrepid Platform may contain links (including text and banners) to websites operated by third parties. If you click on those links and leave the Intrepid Platform, the collection and use of your personal information will no longer be governed by our Policy.
Your personal information may be transferred to a successor or assign of Intrepid as part of a merger, acquisition or other corporate reorganization (including as part of a bankruptcy proceeding), or pursuant to a sale of the Intrepid business unit with which your personal information is associated.
