Inspiration Academy
Inspiration Academy is a professional learning series for K–12 educators, centered on the integration of inclusive approaches to STEM and history. The program supports all learners while fostering a sense of belonging in the classroom and joy in learning. Its primary focus is to sustain and engage BIPOC teachers, as well as teachers in majority BIPOC schools, during their first five (5) years in the profession.

As part of Inspiration Academy, the Museum will host five (5) virtual programs that discuss topics focused on centering joy, belonging and community in the classroom. Sessions will take place on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30pm EST between January and May.
How do I participate?
- Commit to and attend all five sessions to receive a $250 stipend and CTLE credits. Or,
- Drop in to a session and receive CTLE credit

This program is open to all New York State educators, including paraprofessionals. Thirty participants who can commit to and attend all five sessions will receive a $250 stipend upon completion of the last session on May 13, 2025. Participants will be chosen through a short application process.
Applications are due Friday, January 3, 2025.
Inspiration Academy: Summer Institute is a five day professional learning experience focused on integrating inclusive approaches to STEM and history, supporting all learners and fostering both belonging in the classroom and joy in learning. Participants will hear from scholars, museum professionals and fellow teachers exploring how to infuse historical and scientific thinking into their classroom.
Program Goals: Inspiration Academy is dedicated to supporting and empowering BIPOC teachers in New York State, as well as those teaching in majority BIPOC schools, during their first five (5) years in the profession. The program strives to help new teachers build a strong network of peers and gain confidence in integrating historical and contemporary resources that highlight marginalized voices in history and the science. By fostering a joyful and rigorous classroom environment, Inspiration Academy encourages a deep sense of belonging for teachers, their colleagues and their students.
Summer Institute participants are eligible for a stipend upon completion of the program. 30 hours of CTLE credit will be awarded for this professional development program.
This program is open to 25 participants who will be chosen through an application process. Sessions will be held at the Intrepid Museum and other select NYC sites.
Information regarding the 2025 Inspiration Academy Summer Institute will be available in January 2025.
