Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum's website, offering a window into the world of Intrepid and all she stands for historically and as an exciting, interactive museum.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum offers visitors an exciting and educational adventure from the first glance at her imposing hull, through exhibit after exhibit documenting the lives of the sailors who served valiantly aboard her decks. Intrepid features a unique and varied aircraft collection with all five branches of the United States' armed services represented, as well as several distinctive aircraft from around the world. Many of these have been restored to bear the paint schemes and squadron markings they bore during active service. Exciting, interactive exhibits allow for a complete and fluid journey into the history of Intrepid and its significance through major world events. The mechanics of this “city at sea” are explored through rare historic artifacts, graphics, and interactive stations, as are the human stories, stories of the crewmembers and their acts of heroism, service, and sacrifice or as we call it: the humanity behind the hardware.
Intrepid is berthed at Pier 86, a picturesque, park-like oasis on the west side of Manhattan. On the pier guests can marvel at the British Airways Concorde, tour the Growler submarine, or take a ride in one of our Flight Simulators.
