JOIN THE STARFLEET AT STAR TREK-THEMED
OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCES AT THE
INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM
***
The Intrepid Museum will be hosting three special Star Trek-themed editions of its popular Operation Slumber overnight experience on July 23, July 30, and August 6.
Not just for kids—Star Trek fans of all ages will be able to spend a night aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid and enjoy exclusive, after-hours access to the Museum’s new exhibition Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience, as well as the Space Shuttle Pavilion, home to space shuttle Enterprise, NASA’s original orbiter, and the prop shuttlecraft Galileo, which carried the crew of starship USS Enterprise to other planets in Star Trek: The Original Series.
Visitors will also enjoy classic episodes of Star Trek shown on the big screen under the stars on the ship’s flight deck, a ride in the Museum’s 4D simulator, shows in the pop-up planetarium, talks about Star Trek’s technology and its impact on the gadgets of today, hands-on activities for kids and grownups, and more. In addition, visitors will have a chance to join a guided tour of the aircraft carrier Intrepid, conducted in-universe as if guests are newly commissioned officers who just graduated from the Starfleet Academy and are visiting the Intrepid Museum in the 24th century. Though the tour will be conducted in English, native Klingon speakers are welcome.
A late-night snack and light breakfast will be provided, with the chance to try some special Star Trek food and drink. All guests will go home with a swag bag of Intrepid and Star Trek souvenirs to remember the experience.
Costumes are welcome, but not necessary. Pricing is $179 per person, $159 per person in groups of 15+, or $159 for Museum members at the Family level or higher. Space is very limited. Call 646-381-5010 or email startrek@intrepidmuseum.org to reserve a spot.
