More than fifty years after humans first set foot on the Moon, NASA is preparing for an even greater challenge: staying there. As the Artemis campaign returns astronauts to the Moon, NASA is building on decades of experience living and working in space to develop the technologies, operations, and infrastructure needed to support longer and more complex missions on the lunar surface.
At NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, teams that have supported astronauts aboard the International Space Station for 25 years are applying that experience to a new era of lunar exploration. From integrating payloads and supporting Artemis missions to developing new technologies and exploring concepts for lunar habitats, their work is helping lay the groundwork for humans to live, work, and conduct science on the Moon.
Join us for a conversation with Taylor Goodwin from NASA's Human Exploration Development and Operations (HEDO) Office as we explore what it will take to establish a sustained human presence on the Moon, how lessons learned aboard the International Space Station are shaping Artemis, and the steps that could one day turn a Moon base from concept into reality.
