More than fifty years after humans first set foot on the Moon, NASA is preparing for an even greater challenge: staying there. As part of the Artemis campaign, engineers and scientists are developing the technologies that will allow astronauts to live and work on the lunar surface for weeks and eventually months at a time. From habitats that protect crews from extreme temperatures and radiation to systems that provide power, air, water, and other essential resources, these innovations will enable future lunar outposts to support scientific research, exploration, and daily life in one of the harshest environments imaginable.
Join us for a conversation with experts from NASA’s Human Exploration Development and Operations (HEDO) Office as we explore how engineers are designing humanity’s future home on the Moon, the challenges of living beyond Earth, and how today’s technologies are helping transform the vision of a permanent lunar presence into reality.
