Inspiration Academy: Join the Navy, See the World!

Many sailors joined the Navy to visit various countries during their time at sea. While at sea,  Intrepid visited “ports of call” where they could resupply and sailors could take a few days of leisure to explore the new country, take pictures and collect souvenirs. However, crews like Intrepid’s continued these moments of joy on deck through music, art and play!

Join the Intrepid Museum for a 90-minute virtual professional development session focused on various expressions of joy practiced by Intrepid’s former crew members.  

Discover how sailors explored new sites through our collection of Ports of Call booklets and captured memories during their time abroad. Learn how concepts of joy and belonging can be integrated into student learning by exploring various visual thinking strategies and analyzing historic photographs from the Museum’s collection. Participants will also apply these strategies during our workshop focused on social emotional learning (SEL) concepts.

This course provides 1.5 CTLE credits. Registered participants will receive a program link and program information 1-2 days prior to the programming date. Virtual check-in will begin at 5:45PM EDT.
