During the Cold War, Intrepid served as one of NASA’s Prime Recovery Vessels for the Mercury and Gemini Missions, as the United States moved towards sending astronauts to the Moon during the Space Race.
Join the Intrepid Museum for a 90-minute virtual professional development session focused on the process of travelling to the moon and outer space, as well as the future of space exploration. Participants will learn how the engineering design process impacts the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills for students by analyzing various technologies astronauts use and the challenges engineers faced while designing these tools for space exploration. Through our hands-on, invention- designing workshop, participants will also learn how project-based learning (PBL) can support student voice and participation in the classroom.
This course provides 1.5 CTLE credits. Registered participants will receive a program link and program information 1-2 days prior to the programming date. Virtual check-in will begin at 5:45PM EDT.
Registration will open approximately one month before the event. This virtual program is open to 25 registered participants who will each be eligible for a $75 stipend upon completion of the program.
Registration ends Friday, November 28 at 3:00PM EDT.
