Don’t miss our next installment of Astro Live!
This month we'll explore NASA’s Electrojet Zeeman Imaging Explorer (EZIE) mission, the first to study electric currents in Earth’s upper atmosphere known as auroral electrojets—powerful ribbons of energy that drive the northern and southern lights. Led by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), EZIE will use a trio of small satellites to characterize and record the electrojets’ structure over space and time to help scientists better understand space weather and its impact on satellites, power grids, and communication systems here on Earth. Hear from an expert working on the mission and explore how NASA’s EZIE is unlocking the secrets of Earth’s electric skies!
This program will be live streamed via the Intrepid Museum’s Facebook, YouTube, and X, as well as NSF’s YouTube and X, and Kerbal Space Academy’s Twitch.
