Celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Intrepid Museum

Each year on December 3, the world recognizes the International Day of Persons with Disabilities—a time to celebrate the achievements, creativity and contributions of people with disabilities, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to building a more inclusive society.

At the Intrepid Museum, accessibility and inclusion are at the heart of what we do. Our Access programs invite visitors of all abilities to connect with history, innovation and one another through hands-on, engaging experiences.

This December, we’re proud to offer two unique programs designed to bring communities together and foster discovery through fun, creativity and connection.

Sunday, December 7
Virtual Access Family Program: Underwater Archaeology
Dive into history from home! Families of individuals with developmental disabilities are invited to join this free virtual program exploring the fascinating world of underwater archaeology. Together, we’ll uncover how artifacts are found and preserved beneath the sea, and how they help us tell stories about the past. This interactive session encourages curiosity and collaboration—perfect for family learning and fun.
