Intrepid hosted an opening reception for our newest temporary exhibit, 27 Seconds, last evening. 27 Seconds tells the story of the Apollo 1 tragedy and will be on display through November 21st.
We were honored to have family members of Roger Chaffee, one of the astronauts killed in the explosion, on hand to unveil the new exhibit. Museum members and other supporters attended the reception, which included remarks from Intrepid’s Susan Marenoff, Executive Director, and Bryan Kwapil, VP of Collections and Exhibits. In addition, Dave Pequet, nephew of Roger Chaffee, spoke to the group about how honored he and his family were to be there for the opening of this special exhibit.
