November 25th 2009 marks the day of the 65th anniversary of what has been called the worst day in Intrepid history. On this date in 1944, two kamikaze aircraft struck the Intrepid. The first plane hit the ship at 12:54 PM and the second followed at 12:59 PM. In these few minutes, the Intrepid lost 69 crew members, with many, many more injured. As we head into this Thanksgiving weekend, today we take a few moments to remember the men who have served on board this ship, and particularly those who gave their lives.
