Visiting the Museum

Personal cameras and video are allowed. Selfie sticks (or any other camera-extension devices) and professional equipment, including tripods, are not. If you would like to arrange a photo shoot or use any images associated with the Museum, please contact our Public Relations Department at aallen@intrepidmuseum.org

Tours are currently unavailable.

top_anchorHow long will it take to view all of the exhibits in the Museum?

Plan to spend two to three hours at the Museum.

top_anchorI have lost something at the Museum. What do I do?
Please fill out this form. We cannot respond to all inquiries, but we will contact you by email or telephone if your item has been found or turned in. We will verify that the item is yours and provide instructions on how it may be returned to you.
top_anchorIs the Museum wheelchair accessible?
Because of Intrepid’s status as a National Historic Landmark, most of the Museum is fully accessible by wheelchair. Areas of the Museum that are not accessible by wheelchair include   Intrepid’s island, fo’c’sle, gallery deck, submarine Growler and Concorde. All restrooms and dining areas are fully accessible, as well as the flight deck, hangar deck and mess deck.

The Museum does not have wheelchairs available for public use. Lightweight stools are available to borrow from the Information Desk.

The Museum provides programs and resources to support and enhance the experience of all visitors, including individuals with disabilities and their peers and families. For more information, please click here.
top_anchorDoes the Museum offer bag and coat check facilities?
The Museum does not offer bag and coat check facilities. All belongings, including bags, strollers and luggage must remain with visitors at all times.

Strollers, large bags and luggage are not permitted in the submarine or Concorde.

top_anchorWhat are the dining options at the Museum?

Intrepid Marketplace and Aviator Grill offer menus with classic New York flavor. Choose from freshly prepared pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.

Intrepid Marketplace is located on the mess deck of the ship, as well as on the pier. Aviator Grill is located on the second floor of our Welcome Center.

Vending machines are located on the pier and the flight deck.

top_anchorDoes the museum have a nursing room?

The museum has a room designated for nursing moms and caregivers, who need a private space to feed infants and young children. Please visit the Information Desk for access.

 
top_anchorCan I bring artifacts to donate to the Museum?

The Museum is grateful for donations of artifacts, photos, letters and other memorabilia. If you have artifacts to donate, we can work with you on shipping the items to the Museum. Please refrain from bringing items on your visit, as we do not accept artifacts in person. More information about artifact donations can be found here.

 
top_anchorDo NYC residents receive a discount on admission?

Yes. NYC Residents receive 50% off general Museum admission when presenting a valid government-issued photo ID with a printed address, or a current utility or mortgage statement with an address within the five boroughs and name that matches their photo ID. Discount is eligible for all those in qualifying households.

 
top_anchorDoes the Museum have a visitor parking lot?

The Museum does not have a visitor parking lot. We are neither affiliated with any parking garage, nor do we validate parking tickets.

 
Ticket Purchases
top_anchorHow can I purchase tickets?
We encourage visitors to purchase tickets online for the quickest Museum entry. Tickets can also be purchased on location, inside our Welcome Center's Box Office. All members of your party (excluding children 0-4) must possess an admission ticket for entry into the museum. Final Entry and Last Ticket sold one hour prior to closing.
top_anchorWhen are tickets purchased online valid?
Tickets are only valid for entry on the date and within the 30 minute time period indicated.  Visitors must arrive at the time indicated on their ticket. Visitors will not be permitted to enter before their assigned time.
top_anchorAm I able to reserve admission tickets in advance with a Sightseeing, Explorer or New York Pass?
At this time, Sightseeing, Explorer and New York Pass holders are only able to obtain admission tickets on-site at our Box Office. Advance reservations are not possible.
top_anchorAm I able to reserve admission tickets in advance with the ASTC Passport Program?
ASTC Passport participants are only able to obtain admission tickets on-site at our Box Office. Advance reservations are not possible. Upon arrival, please present your ASTC museum membership card, as well as photo identification at our Box Office to obtain your tickets. The number of ASTC complimentary admission tickets you will receive is based on your level of membership. The Passport program is for complimentary general admission and does not include add-ons, such as simulators or 3D films.
top_anchorWhen is the latest time I can purchase a ticket and enter the Museum?
You may purchase tickets at our Welcome Center's Box Office and enter the Museum up to one hour before closing.
top_anchorAre Growler and the Concorde included with admission?
Museum admission includes entry to the aircraft carrier Intrepid, the Space Shuttle Pavilion and Growler. The British Airways Concorde is only open for private guided tours, offered daily. Tours are not included with general admission and may be reserved for an additional fee.

top_anchorDo active military and veterans receive free admission?
U.S. military and veterans receive free admission to the Museum with valid identification, thanks to the generous support of Bank of America. Spouses of active-duty service members receive a 20% discount on admission.

Examples of acceptable identification are active duty, retiree or reservist military ID card (DD Form 2 or 2A), civilian retiree card, discharge papers (DD-214), state-issued veteran designation on driver’s license or identification card, or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Identification Card (VIC).

top_anchorAre there volunteer opportunities?
Volunteers are an integral part of the Museum. Our volunteers work with the public or behind the scenes. The Museum is always seeking qualified individuals who are willing to assist in promoting and sustaining our mission. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and willing to contribute eight hours each month for a minimum of six months.

top_anchorDoes the Museum donate tickets to local fundraising efforts?
Yes. All requests for donations must be submitted online at least eight weeks before an event. Click hereto submit an application and upload your request letter on official letterhead.

Due to the high volume of requests, the Museum cannot honor all donation requests and cannot support the same organization twice within an 18-month period.

If your organization does not receive confirmation of a donation four weeks before your event, then the Museum was unfortunately unable to fulfill your request.
