The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum has been chosen by Craig Newmark, the founder of craigslist, to participate in a fundraising challeng- recently launched on www.craigconnects.org - to support Veterans and Military Families.
With this project, Intrepid will raise money to support an Access Initiative (link to initiative) for Veterans with physical, emotional or cognitive challenges and for Military Families affected by developmental disabilities, including autism.
Serving as the platform for the Intrepid Family of Foundations, which provide housing and financial assistance to our Military and their families, the Intrepid Museum is a passionate supporter of Veterans initiatives.
The goal of this project is to ensure that Veterans and Military families affected by physical, developmental, and/or emotional disabilities engage in meaningful cultural experiences together. Each of these families are most deserving and need our support as they have selflessly given to us through their service.
Every donation made between JUNE 28th and JUNE 30th gives the Museum a chance to receive a grant from Mr. Newmark to support free educational and enrichment programs for Veterans and Military Families. The grant recipients are determined by the total number of donations received, not how much is actually raised, so even the smallest donation will help Intrepid’s effort! 1st place is a $40,000 grant, 2nd place is a $30,000 grant, 3rd place is a $20,000 grant and 4th place is a $15,000 grant.
