Veterans & Military

All in-person and online programs are free with advance registration for active military members, veterans and their families and offer endless opportunities to share, learn and discover with peers.

Special Veteran & Military Access to Free Fridays

This summer, current and former service members and their guests can get special access to Free Friday Movie Nights! Veteran and military families are invited to use the member line for priority access to the Museum for these events.

Summer 2024 Free Fridays

Free Fridays start at 5:00pm. The Museum is open for exploration. Movies on the flight deck begin at sundown, and guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Doors close at 8:30pm.

  • June 28 - Apollo 13
    • Veteran and military families can also register for access to Cat Shot Café and enjoy snacks and refreshments on Intrepid's flight deck before the screening! Register here.
  • July 26 - First Man
  • August 23 - Moonfall

Beyond Free Fridays, current and former service members receive free admission to the Museum at all times, thanks to support from Bank of America. The Intrepid Museum is a participating member of Blue Star Museums. Military ID holders and up to 5 guests receive free admission to the Museum through September 2.

Intrepid After Hours

Join fellow veterans and service members at the Intrepid Museum to explore the Museum without the crowds. Then join peers for conversation, a behind-the-scenes experience and a catered dinner.

Military and Veteran Family Access

Veteran and military families receive priority access to public events like Family Days, Fleet Week, Kids Week and Free Fridays, as well as select member benefits at these events. Veterans and their guests are also specially invited to public programs focused on veteran experiences, such as special film screenings, performances and talks.

Oral History Project

Since 2013, the Oral History Project has collected stories of those who served on board the historic aircraft carrier Intrepid from 1943 to 1974, as well as those associated with the submarine Growler, the space shuttle orbiter Enterprise and the supersonic airliner Concorde.
